This wood-carved pair of playful bear siblings comes to us from small-town San Martin Arrazola, in the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca. It was conceived by wood carving masters, Angelico and Isaias Jimenez, sons of the late world-renowned Oaxacan original, Manuel Jimenez. The Jimenez family carves a variety of wood figures from animals decorated with spectacular colors and geometric designs to fantastical hybrid creatures (consistent with the most correct and original definition of the word "alebrije") inspired by Mexican artist, Pedro Linares, to Day of the Dead Mexican folk art, including a Oaxacan interpretation of of La Calavera Catrina.

In this work, you see patterns and designs that allude those found on the Zapotec Indian ruins of Mitla. To many of the artists that paint these works, creating these beautiful works with designs of old is a way of piquing world interest in their culture to keep it alive while simultaenously staying connected to it and showing their pride. Take a close look at the intricate patterns and consider the creativity, skill and effort that goes into making each of these pieces. Not one is alike, but what they do share in common is their ability to capture one's attention.

Warranty Information

Our goal is to provide you with excellent works of art and fantastic customer service. A very important element of this is our shipping and returns policy. We believe you won't want to return this item because we are confident you will get exactly what you see here on this listing due to everything we do to thoroughly reveal what you're getting and completely protect your item against damage before it's delivered to you. Please read the following to understand how we work to get your item(s) to you in mint condition and to make you happy with our products and customer service.

Each piece undergoes a quality control check first by the artist and then by us to ensure that we are shipping you a high quality collector’s item in undamaged, mint condition. Each item is insured at market price ahead of each shipment to protect your investment, and we take great care in packaging each item for shipment. The carvings are wrapped in clean non-print paper (like newspaper, but without ink) to protect the paint. They are then placed in between two plastic bags that are filled with spray foam that conforms to the shape of the wood carving(s). Once dry, it envelops the item(s) with complete cushioning and protection against the mishandling of the package or damage to the item(s) inside. Should our carrier attempt to deliver a package to you that appears damaged in any way (e.g., crushing, wetness, dried watermarks, open packages), we strongly advise that you refuse the delivery. Packages showing damage from the outside are an indication that the mint condition of your item(s) could have been compromised during delivery. If you receive a box that appears to you in good condition and not damaged in any way as described above, be assured that the item(s) inside will be in the same mint condition that we shipped them to you.

Please know that these works of art are NOT machined items manufactured for mass production; they are instead hand-crafted and one-of-a-kind. The naturally-occurring imperfections in a painted brush stroke or a wooden surface make each hand-crafted wood carving unique, non-replicable and a more valuable collector’s item. Nonetheless, we photograph each piece in detail from various angles to completely reveal all surfaces, enabling you to see for yourself any aspect about the carving or paint that is not to your liking. We additionally offer you a period of 14 calendar days (includes weekends and holidays) after delivery during which to inform us about any imperfection you see on the piece that was not apparent on this eBay listing. Within that period, you should contact us through the "Contact Seller" link. You can find that under "Purchase History" where you will find the "More Options" drop down menu which shows the "Contact Seller" link. If the imperfection was not revealed in any of the pictures, we will be back in touch with you within 48 hours and arrange to have you ship the item back to us on our shipping account within two business days after you have received our approval to return the item. We will apply a full refund once we see that the item has been delivered to us in the same mint condition that we shipped it to you. No restocking fee will be charged in the instance where an imperfection in your item was not indicated on our listing. If you find what you believe is an unacceptable imperfection, but it was revealed in this listing, we offer you the option of contacting us about it within 14 calendar days after the item has been delivered to you. Once you have contacted us, we will send you our approval within 48 hours to ship the item back to us at your cost, including insurance. You must ship the item within two business days. Once we see that the item has been delivered to us in the same condition that we shipped it to you, we will refund your money less a restocking fee of 20% of the price of each returned item.

Given our quality control check ahead of packaging our items for shipment, because we carefully envelop your item in foam cushioning as described above, and because we strongly advise that you reject any deliveries of packages that appear damaged, you will not receive a damaged item. Please exercise great care in unpackaging, handling, storing or displaying the item so that you or others can avoid accidentally damaging the item. If you opt to return an item that gets damaged, we simply need you to e-mail us pictures clearly indicating the damage and a description of how it happened before we can begin to process your return. We will accept your return delivered back to us on our shipping account within 14 calendar days after the date that the item was delivered to you. Your purchase price will be refunded less a restocking fee of 25% of the price of each returned item. If, in the instance of a damaged item, you are shipping the item back to us from outside the United States, return shipping and insurance will need to be paid for by you.
